Remember Walter Cronkite at Walt Disney World

Most people who have visited Walt Disney World over the years remember Walter Cronkite as he played straight man to Robin Williams in the brilliant Disney animated short, Back to Neverland.

But Walter Cronkite at one time was the voice of Spaceship Earth. And before that, he was featured in an important Disney television production, "One Man's Dream" broadcasted in the months prior to the opening of Epcot. Commenting on Disney's own contribution, Cronkite notes:

"This universality of Disney carries on after his death in the projects that he put on the drawing board before he died. The Epcot Center in Florida is a case in point. Bringing together representatives of international industry, international commerce, the governments of other countries, political organizations in a permanent world's fair carries on that theme of his that we are indeed, one people."

In Back to Neverland Robin Williams suggests that through animation you can be anyone, even Walter Cronkite. Truth be told, with or without animation, no one can be quite like him.

And that's the way it is.
